Blending in a static mixer can be directly related to a series of dimensionless numbers that can be used to describe blending characteristics.

Where Re = Reynolds Number

μ = Absolute Viscosity

μ ₁/μ ₂ = Viscosity Ratio of Unmixed Streams

ρ ₁/ρ ₂ = Density Ratio of Unmixed Streams

V₁/V₂= Volumetric Ratio of Unmixed Streams

v = Shear Rate

n = Number of Elements

L/D = Element Length to Diameter Ratio

Inj. = Injection Method of Additive Stream
